The Origin of Mewtwo
Mewtwo Strikes Back

Back in the labratory, where Team Rocket is still in, the capturing devices that Mewtwo used to capture the monsters in, are taken into that room. Once inside, the devices are placed on a conveyer belt, where each device is then analyzed. As the devices are analyzed, a replica of that Pokémon is created. Ash manages to find out where the monsters have been taken, and he arrives in the room as the capturing device that Pikachu is in, is getting closer to being analyzed. As Ash nears, a pair of electronic hands grab Pikachu's Pokéball, and begin to analyze it. Ash grabs ahold of the Pokéball, and begins to try and pry it loose from the hand's grasp. As Ash is also caught by the electronic hand, he struggles to get loose, while trying to prevent Pikachu from being replicated. Ash manages to break free, while destroying the machine, and preventing further Pokémon from being replicated. Since the machine and all electronic equipment was destroyed, the capturing devices that Mewtwo used were no longer able to hold the captured monsters. Each monster is released from the devices and set free.

Ash and Pikachu go back to the League field, where Mewtwo and the other trainers are still waiting. Mewtwo, seeing the other monsters, summons his own replicated monsters for battle against the original monsters.

All of the trainers are shocked, as well as Mewtwo, to see a tiny white cat-like Pokémon appear. One of the rarest Pokémon, surrounded in a pink bubble, it was Mew. Mewtwo is eager to battle his original being, to prove that he is superior to Mew's power.

The whole battlefield is filled with Pokémon, originals and replicas alike, fighting hand-to-hand. Every original monster fights, except Pikachu, which refuses to fight against his replica. Pikachu's replica slaps him around, making Pikachu get beat down fast, since he was taking the hits directly and not trying to defend himself. The replica Pikachu, being real, with realistic qualities, begins to cry as it cries out harshly for Pikachu to fight it. Pikachu never defends, and the copy eventually grows tired and falls to the ground. All of the monsters are soon tired from the fighting.

Mew and Mewtwo continue their battle, as Psychic blasts and beams of light are exchanged between the two most powerful monsters. Blocking and dodging attacks, it seems as if both Mew and Mewtwo were equally matched in this competition. Sadly, all of the trainers, including Ash, watch as the two Pokémon continue through the battle. Pokémon are not violent creatures, and they should not be fighting endlessly.

Ash angers quickly at the sight of the two creatures in combat. Knowing something has to be done to stop this act, Ash dashes out onto the battlefield screaming loudly for the two Pokémon to stop the fighting. The two Pokémon ignore him, and continue with their battle. As Ash reaches the center of the field, both Pokémon try and counter each other's attacks, by shooting out Psychic-attack bolts of light. The light emitted from their attacks collide straight forward and directly hit Ash from both directions. Ash screams painfully, as he falls helplessly to the ground.

Mew and Mewtwo stop their fighting, as they watch the action on the field. Pikachu rushes to his friend's side, staring into Ash's eyes. Because of the strong Psychic attacks, Ash's body immediately turns to rock, as Pikachu and the rest of the monsters and trainers look on. Not knowing what to do, Pikachu jolts a thunderbolt at Ash, to see if he can shock Ash back to life. The attack fails, so Pikachu continues to try, as he knows nothing else to do. Pikachu quickly tires from using up all of his energy trying to revive Ash.

Pikachu, exhaused and scared, begins to cry for the loss of his friend. Other monsters, including the replicas, feel for Pikachu's loss, and they begin to sympathetically cry for him. As the tears of the monsters drop to the ground, they are absorbed into the soil, and filtered to where Ash lay. With help from the Pokémon's tears, Ash's rock hard body slowly begins to soften, until he is back to his normal state. Pikachu latches to Ash, hugging him. Ash caringly hugs his friend, as others are relieved to see that Ash is okay.

After seeing how precious and important life is, Mewtwo decides to take all of his replica Pokémon to a secluded place, so that they might all live life in peace, for a change. Mewtwo feels, that since they are mere replicas, that they do not belong with the real Pokémon race. Mewtwo psychically gathers all of the replica Pokémon, and vanishes into the sky.

Just as quickly as they had arrived on New Island, Ash, Misty, Brock and the other trainers find themselves back at the port, from where they had come. No one has any recollection of the battles, or the appearance of the rare Pokémon, Mew and Mewtwo. The storm eventually subsides, leaving a calm over the ocean--and a new day over the horizon.
